Welcome

The derLAB website is at once a laboratory and playground, a place for experimentation and play. It is a place where I (and hopefully soon collaborators) can pursue theoretical and practical inquiries into various aspects of digital design and development. Because I currently work and study at a University, it will have an academic bent. I am currently working toward a doctorate in New Media Studies at Tulane University, so many of the projects here are influenced by my studies as well as my work as a Project Team Leader/Instructional Technologist at Tulane's Innovative Learning Center.

My current research interests include:
  • Play as a form of knowledge generation
  • Ubiquitous/mobile computing
  • Creative Computing
  • Mapping (cognitive, geographic, or both)
Please see the Projects section for current work, and check out the Blog for latest developments and thoughts. I hope that this site will soon become a collaborative experience and represent the work of others as well as my own.

I invite your participation in these projects as well as your input on the types of projects that you would like to see here. Please visit this site often. If you would like to be included in the LAB mailing list, please fill out the form here.
